Wisconsin Dells Magic Show

3 08 2007

The site that my family seemed to enjoy the most on our trip to Wisconsin Dells was the Rick Wilcox Magic show

Now, I will warn you, this was the single most expensive attraction that we visited while at Wisconsin Dells.  Part of the reason for the added expense, however, was that we purchased center row tickets for all six of us.  The theater is pretty small, so I would imagine that sitting in a sit seat would offer just as good of a view and it wouldn’t be necessary to sit in the center of the theater.

We weren’t sure what to expect with this show.  Seeing as we were in Wisconsin Dells, we were a little afraid of it being CHEESIE (bad pun intended).  But, the show was actually quite entertaining and all of the children absolutely loved.  It was definitely an expense that was well worth it.

Depending on the time of year that you visit the Dells, you will only have one or two chances each day to see the show.  Also, I would recommend purchasing your tickets ahead of time.  The theater was nearly full when we visited and we went in early June before the Dells are really in full swing.

In my opinion, this show is a must see!

When planning out a family vacation, getting the right hotel is essential. Whether you are looking to make reservations at san antonio hotels or a san diego hotel, or even a san francisco ca hotel, be certain to read reviews and gather as much information as possible before making a reservation.

This is  robot located outside of the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory.  Look out for it, as the kiosk with the great package deals is located right next to it.

Here is one of the exhibits inside the Exploratory.  This is an example of an exhibit that plays tricks on the mind - with the help of some carefully placed mirrors, my husband looks like he as no body!

When you visit the Tommy Bartlett Show, you will walk up a path to where the seating area is located.  There are a couple of photo opps along the way, including this one…

 And this one…

Believe it or not, a nine year old boy is inside this giant contraption (on the left).  As the boy and the man on the right side walk through the loops, the entire contraption rotates.  Later, the man performs some pretty amazing feats on this one!

This lady did some pretty amazing things up there!  This is just one example.

This lady was quite amazing too!

Wisconsin Dells - The Tommy Bartlett Show

28 07 2007

The Tommy Bartlett Show is one of the first attractions to be offered at Wisconsin Dells.  Located right next to the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory, you can spend time at the Exploratory before the show and then go right next door to the performance when its almost time for the show to begin.

The theme of the Tommy Bartlett Show during our visit was “pirates,” and they were obviously trying to piggy-back off of the popularity of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies by choosing this theme.  My husband and I both thought that they really stretched the theme during their waterski show that comprised the first half of the show.  While the stunts were certainly impressive, the attempt to make it a pirate show really came off a bit lame.  Even the kids were a bit disappointed.

My boys didn’t seem to be very thrilled by the first half of the show, which was all waterskiing stunts.  The second half, however, seemed to get them going a bit more.  There were definitely some heart-stopping moments as the performers performed amazing acrobatic feats, including dangling by their heads from several feet in the air and running like hamsters in rotating devices towering in the sky.

The Tommy Bartlett Show is worth a visit to on your family vacation, but prepared for the little ones to possibly be a bit bored by the first half of the show.
