In this release, the lodging directory reveals the study results for 19,168 opted-in travelers who searched for vacation rentals in New York’s top destinations and specially in New York City from July 2008 to January 2010.

NYC Comparison Shopping Trends: In accordance with the study, 68 percent of the vacation planners who inquired for a place to stay in NYC showed interest in comparison shopping among New York City vacation rentals, bed breakfasts, and hotels. 57 percent also accepted offers from properties in NYC’s vicinity area which includes Astoria, Edgewater, North Bergen, Weehawken, Woodside, Bronx, Ridgefield Park, Secaucus, East Elmhurst, Hoboken, South Hackensack, Carlstadt, Whitestone, Belleville, Hasbrouck Heights, Flushing, and Hackensack.
New York City Vacation Planning Trends: This study discloses that 37 percent of the vacationers commenced their trip preparing two or more months prior to the arriving to their NYC lodging. Classic last minute vacationers inquired within the last month of their arrival and represented the 33 percent. 27 percent of the travelers sent their inquiries one to two months in advance.
New York City Vacation Themes: The most popular vacation theme in NYC is romance, because those romantic travelers looking for a place to stay for two represented the 31 percent. Groups of more than four people represented the 23 percent. Families with kids, a classical theme, represented the 22 percent and the last 17 percent of the inquiries came from people who were traveling alone.
